Complementary therapies

How are they used?
Complementary therapies are a powerful tool and can be used effectively in pregnancy in a range of situations. Individualised support throughout pregnancy - this is in addition to NHS maternity care.

I have undertaken specific training for midwives in multiple therapies so I am able to tailor all treatments to your specific needs.

The main therapies I can offer are:
  • Aromatherapy
  • Hypnosis
  • Reflexology
Together these therapies can help many different pregnancy situations (see below for our top packages). Each therapy session bespoke and aims to holistically treat your symptoms. All of the therapies can also be used simply for relaxation.
Everyone's pregnancy and birth experience is unique, and so no two treatments will be the same.
Before any therapy, a thorough consultation will be undertaken. Following this the best therapies for you and your situation will be discussed and together a treatment plan can be formed.
moxibustion for breech babies

Moxibustion can be used to encourage babies to move from bottom down to head down. This in depth appointment explores how to use moxibustion, other ways to encourage your baby to turn and the conventional treatment offered by the NHS.

Pregnancy sickness

It might be called morning sickness but anyone who has experience it knows that really it should be called day and night sickness and nausea.

Complementary therapies can be used to holistically treat any nausea symptoms and get you back to feeling more like yourself again.  Not everyone's symptoms are the same and symptoms are caused by different factors. A specialist consultation allows us to explore the reasons behind the symptoms and choose the therapies that will work best for you.

A mix of reflexology, hypnosis, acupressure and aromatherapy work well to ease sickness and nausea symptoms, as well as any other early pregnancy symptoms.

Labour preparation

Preparing for labour, both physically and mentally, is the key to a positive birth experience, whether you plan to have your baby at home or hospital. If pregnant people and their birth partners feel empowered, a positive birth experience can follow.

You and your partner deserve to look back on the birth of your baby as the positive experience. The treatment is a combination of reflexology, acupressure and aromatherapy massage, as well as the option to also add hypnosis.

You will be able to continue this treatment at home as the service includes teaching on acupressure points to stimulate, massage strokes to perform with a personalised aromatherapy blend and other natural methods to promote labour.
